A Review of Research on Fast mapping in Children with Special Needs and Its Implications

Abstract：Vocabulary acquisition is the foundation of language development,and fast mapping is considered to be the initial stage of vocabulary learning,which has been widely studied abroad.It is of great significance to under-stand the process of vocabulary learning in children with special needs.This paper reviews and analyzes the literature relevant to rapid vocabulary mapping in children with special needs abroad.It is found that this field focuses on the pre-dictive factors,ability performance and promotion strategies of rapid vocabulary mapping.Future research should ex-pand language assessment methods to verify the relationship between rapid mapping and language ability,enrich knowl-edge on mapping mechanisms of various vocabulary types,and focus on retention and generalization of vocabulary after rapid mapping.
