Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlation between chirp ABR and behavioral thresholds with hearing aids. Methods The same participants were subjected to both Chirp ABR and behavioral audiometry testing in a quiet sound field, and thresholds were compared between the two test modalities. Results Correlation coefficients between Chirp ABR and behavioral audiometry thresholds for the four tested frequencies were 0.87, 0.866, 0.944 and 0.849 for the left ear and 0.936, 0.906, 0.937 and 0.931 for the right ear, respectively, with ABR Chirp thresholds being higher than behavioral thresholds by 9-18 dB. Conclusion Chirp ABRs can be used to estimate aided sound-field thresholds in children who cannot cooperate in behavioral audiometry.
