Abstract:Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is a common vestibular disease in the clinic. It is largely agreed upon that symptoms are caused by displacement of otoconia from the utricle into the semicircular canals, but the reason for displacement is still obscure. In recent years, researchers have paid more attention to the relationship between BPPV and bone metabolism due to the similar composition and physiology of otoconia and bone. This paper summariz-es the relevant researches around the world through article review and discusses on the research status and further direc-tions.
