Pathogenesis and Treatment of Otitis Media with Effusion

Abstract：Otitis media with effusion(OME)is mainly characterized by middle ear effusion and hearing loss.Un-like suppurative inflammation of the middle ear,OME is not generally associated with acute infection symptoms.How-ever,the pathogenesis of OME is very complex.The development of OME is related to eustachian tube dysfunction,in-fection,craniofacial anomalies and other factors.Treatments vary with different etiologies.In this paper,research ad-vances on the pathogenesis and treatment of OME are summarized.
