Abstract:Ménière's disease (MD) is an extremely complex inner ear disorder. The primary histopathological correlate is endolymphatic hydrops. Although its etiology is not known, familial clustering and genetic heterogeneity strongly suggest that genetic factors play a role in the development of MD. In this review, we will explore the numerous reports published in the literature and summarize recent advances in genetics of Ménière's disease.
