Usage of Rudimentary Microtia Tissue in Auriclular Reconstruction

Abstract：Objective To report usage of existing tissue of microtia in auricle reconstruction. Methods Data from 29 patients with congenital microtia treated with surgical auricle reconstruction involving use of existing rudimentary ear tissue were retrospectively analyzed. Results Auricle reconstruction surgery was successfully completed in all cases, with tissue flap necrosis and blood circulation disorders in only 1 case (3.45%). Conclusions Auricle reconstruction tak-ing advantage of existing residual auricular tissue in patients with congenital microtia can significantly improve out-comes, and is conducive to ensuring the quality of life and physical and mental health of patients.
