Efficacy of Continuous Drainage with Compression Bandage for Auricular Pseudocysts

Abstract：Objective To ascertain the efficacy of drainage with compression bandage in the management of auric-ular pseudocysts. Methods Fifty two patients with diagnosed unilateral auricle pseudocysts received continuous drain-age using intravenous indwelling cannulas combined with compression bandage. The patients were followed up at one week, one month, three months and six months respectively. Results Complete resolution of the auricular pseudocyst was achieved in all 52 patients (92.3%after the first treatment and 7.7%following repeated treatments). Conclusions Continuous drainage with compression bandage for management of auricular pseudocysts provides high rate of resolu-tion after initial treatment and is easy, minimally invasive and associated with low cost and short treatment course.
