Abstract:Noise is widely present in both everyday life and work environment. Exposure to excessive noise damages the auditory system and causes permanent hearing loss. The molecular mechanisms of noise-induced hearing loss are com-plex. Various treatments are available, but their effectiveness varies. In this review, we will describe recent advances in our understanding of pathological mechanisms of noise-induced hearing loss.
