Contemporary Research on Music Perception in Cochlear Implant Users

Abstract:In cochlear implant users, appropriate evaluation of their perceptive abilities of various as-pects of music is an indispensable prerequisite to understand their music perception characteristics, study the rules of their musical awareness, and improve their musical perceptive abilities. Based on the characteristics of music and corresponding physical properties, this paper reviews relevant literatures on music perception re-lated to cochlear implant in the world, including current evaluation systems, test materials, music tone proper-ties (pitch, timbre, duration, etc), and summarizes the success and the deficiencies in current research. On this basis, further studies are proposed in view of current problems.
