Abstract:Objective To study effects of clinical nursing pathways during the perioperative period of external ear re-construction. Methods A total of 100 microtia patients were randomly assigned to undergo clinical nursing pathways (the ex-periment group, n=50) or receive routine nursing (the control group, n=50). Initial postoperative exercise time, length of stay, hospital expenses and degree of satisfaction toward nursing care were compared. Results Initial postoperative exercise time, length of stay and hospital expenses were significantly less in the experiment group than in the control group (p<0.05). As a result, degree of patient satisfaction toward nursing care in the experiment group was higher than in the control group. Conclusions Application of nursing pathways during perioperative period of external ear reconstruction may be an effective measure to reduce the cost of hospitalization and length of stay as well as to improve patient satisfaction and rehabilitation.
