Abstract:Objective To examine the similarities and differences between the Infant-Toddler Meaningful Au-ditory Integration Scale (IT-MAIS) and LittlEARS Auditory Questionnaire when used to evaluate young hear-ing-impaired children. Methods IT-MAIS and LittlEARS were administered in 36 hearing-impaired children aged below 3 years before using hearing assistance instruments and at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months after. Results IT-MAIS scores increased continuously, although the growth rate was lower than that of normal hearing chil-dren. LittlEARS scores also increased continuously with a growth trend similar with that in normal hearing children. Conclusion IT-MAIS and LittlEARS have their own distinguished features and can be combined to evaluate hearing-impaired children.
