Abstract:Objective The study aims to discuss the value of HHIE-S in presbycusis screening. Methods Provided self-assessment scale and agent scale to 170 the elderly who not lived alone and their relatives, the pure tone test was used for the elderly, and analysis the relationship between the scale scores and the thresholds. Results The result showed positive corre?lation between the two scales and the pure tone audiometry. 25dB as cut-off points for hearing loss, the specificity value of HHIE-S to hearing loss in the elderly was 95.24%, and the sensitivity was 59.06%, which was increased with the increase of hearing threshold values. By the pure tone test showed that a total of 149 old people (87.65%) have different degree of hearing loss, among the elderly with mild to moderate hearing loss, 50 cases with greater than 8 points, suggested have hearing impair?ment, 39 cases with 10~22 points, suggested mild to moderate hearing loss, 11 cases with 24~40 points, suggested severe hearing impairment;among the patients with severe and above hearing loss, 38 cases with greater than 8 points, suggested have hearing impairment, 9 cases with 10~22 points of HHIE-S score, suggested mild to moderate hearing loss, 29 cases with 24~40 points of HHIE-S score, suggested severe hearing impairment. Conclusion The Chinese version of HHIE-S showed high sensitivity and specificity in presbycusis screening, the scale scores and pure tone test has a strong correlation, the result showed the scale can be used for early screening presbycusis, helped promote presbycusis patients with early aggressive treatment and rehabilitation.
