Abstract:Noise is one of the most common factors causing occupational injury and hearing disability. Therefore, pre-venting noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) and limiting hearing loss are one of the important subjects that we hammer away at. Previous research has shown that noise induces increase of reactive nitrogen free radicals and metalloproteinases in the co-chlea. Injury of DNA, Caspase-3 activation, and translocation of AIF and EndoG occurr in noise damaged hair cells. And these damages lead to hair cell death involving apoptosis and necrosis, although predominantly apoptosis. Understanding cellu-lar and molecular mechanisms of NIHL may open up a new way for the prevention and treatment of this problem.
