Abstract:Sjögren's syndrome falls under the category of"dryness impediment"in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),with clinical manifestations primarily including dry mouth, dry eyes, and dry skin.Sweat pores are the smallest functional units of the human body, serving as the"gateways"and"passages"for Qi,blood, and body fluids. The obstruction of sweat pores leads to dysfunction of the organs, resulting in symptoms of dryness due to the abnormal distribution of Qi,blood, and body fluids. Therefore, many TCM practitioners adopt the method of opening sweat pores in clinical treatment to restore the balance of Qi and fluids, thereby alleviating the symptoms of dryness in the body.Pungent herbs have multiple effects, including dispersing, promoting Qi flow, moistening, unblocking collaterals, and resolving stasis.Their properties of opening, dispersing, and promoting movement can clear sweat pores, harmonize Qi and blood, and facilitate the generation and distribution of body fluids, thus relieving dryness symptoms.Based on the theory of sweat pores, this paper explores the etiology and pathogenesis of Sjögren's syndrome and delves into the application of pungent medicine in the treatment of Sjögren's syndrome.Furthermore,it combines modern pharmacological research to investigate the underlying molecular mechanisms, providing more theoretical foundations and methodological insights for the clinical use of pungent medicine in treating Sjögren's syndrome by opening sweat pores.
