Guo Weiqin's Experience in Treating Chronic Heart Failure from the Theory of"Junior Fire Generating Vital Qi"

Abstract：The theory of"junior fire generating vital Qi"originates from Inner Canon of Huangdi and has been elaborated by successive generations of physicians,primarily encompassing two interpretations:the gentle medicine and diet,and the physiological fire.Based on this theory,Professor Guo Weiqin posits that the fundamental pathogenesis of chronic heart failure lies in the debilitation of junior fire,resulting in heart Qi and Yang deficiency,dysfunction of the spleen and stomach,and abnormal Qi transformation in the triple energizer,which depletes Yin,fluid and blood and produces pathological products such as water fluid,turbid phlegm,and static blood,ultimately resulting in paralysis of heart vessels and loss of nourishment for the heart,leading to the disease.Guo Weiqin intends to treat the disease with Yiqi Xiefei decoction adaptively modified to address the root by boosting Qi,warming Yang,and gently fostering junior fire,while targeting the branch through activating blood to remove blood stasis,purging the lung to alleviate water retention,and dispelling phlegm and remitting water.Concurrently,she pays attention to preserving Yin,blood and spirit,and the use of drug is flexible and versatile,which has been proven to be effective.One case is attached to support the evidence.
