Abstract:The efficient utilization of knowledge from ancient Chinese medical books faces the challenge of semantic discrepancies between ancient and modern disease concepts. To systematically address the correspondence between these concepts, this study innovatively proposes a"two-stage four-step method"framework, comprising"disease name-content"and"investigation-examination-discrimination-interpretation".Starting from the two dimensions of disease names and textual content, the framework first clarifies the evolution of disease concepts through multi-source literature data collection and structured extraction(investigation)and textual research on the origin and development of disease names(examination). It then defines the connotation and denotation of modern diseases in ancient books by correlating disease names between traditional Chinese and Western medicine and discriminating the similarity between ancient texts and clinical manifestations(discrimination),leading to interpretation.Using rheumatoid arthritis as an example, this paper preliminarily defines its connotation and denotation in ancient Chinese medical books through the"two-stage four-step method".The framework provides systematic and reliable methodological support for correlating ancient and modern disease concepts and mining knowledge from ancient Chinese medical books, offering a structured and scalable research pathway. It holds significant value for deepening ancient book knowledge mining, promoting the standardization of traditional Chinese medical terminology, and advancing the digital and intelligent application of ancient books.
