Abstract:The theory of"Form"in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)is one of the core elements in TCM's understanding of human life, permeating the entire life process. In this paper,"Form"refers to the material foundation that sustains life. Its constituents include the external appearance, the physical body, the five sense organs and orifices, the visceral system, the meridian system,as well as essence, blood, and body fluids. It can be classified according to the upper, middle, and lower parts of the body, the front and back, and the exterior and interior, and can also be categorized in terms of Yin-Yang theory and the five-element theory. This paper also discusses the relationships between"Form"and other vital elements such as"Qi"(vital energy)and"Shen"(spirit),as well as the modern significance of"Form".The aim is to emphasize the importance of"Form"itself and the trinity of"Form""Qi"and"Shen",and to offer a new TCM perspective on understanding life in the era of artificial intelligence.
