Abstract:Objective To conduct a systematic visual analysis of domestic and international research literature in the field of the integration of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)and artificial intelligence(AI)based on the CiteSpace knowledge graph, and to explore the research status, hotspots, and development trends in this field. Methods Relevant literature published from the establishment of the Web of Science Core Collection and CNKI databases up to January 2025 was selected. The CiteSpace 6.1.R6 software was used to analyze the publication trend, cooperation among authors and institutions, keyword co-occurrence,clustering,and timeline,so as to reveal the research characteristics and frontier dynamics in the field of the integration of TCM and AI.Results The keyword co-occurrence analysis showed that data mining, big data, syndrome differentiation and treatment, and drug identification were the main research hotspots.Chinese-language literature focused on the intelligent diagnosis and treatment systems and the modern application of TCM theory, while English-language literature emphasized the screening of TCM components, research on drug mechanisms, and new drug development. The clustering analysis revealed multiple core directions, including intelligent diagnosis and treatment of TCM,data-driven methods, network pharmacology, and drug design. The timeline analysis demonstrated the development path and evolutionary trends of this field at different stages. Conclusion The research in the field of the integration of TCM and AI has gradually transformed towards the direction of multi-modal data fusion and precision medicine.Future research should continue to focus on intelligent applications based on large language models and multi-modal data, and combine international frontiers with China's actual needs to construct an intelligent diagnosis and treatment system suitable for the characteristics of TCM.
