Abstract:Mitochondria provide energy for cells and participate in processes such as cell growth, differentiation, apoptosis, and signal transduction, analogous to how Qi and blood provide energy, motility, and nourishment to the human body, facilitating material metabolism, promoting communication, and maintaining normal physiological functions.Mitochondrial dysfunction is an early event in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease(PD),and both deficiency of Qi and blood is also a key pathological mechanism in early-stage PD.In animal models with Qi and blood deficiency, mitochondrial dysfunction has been observed, while Qi-invigorating and blood-nourishing therapies have proven effective in improving mitochondrial function. The authors propose that mitochondrial dysfunction and Qi-blood deficiency in early PD represent a unified pathological manifestation at the microscopic and macroscopic levels. This article interprets the"mitochondria-Qi blood"relationship by integrating modern medical research with the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)consensus on PD pathogenesis, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for TCM prevention and treatment of PD and to expand diagnostic and therapeutic perspectives.
