Abstract:Known as the earliest clinical encyclopedia in China,Qian Jin Yao Fang is of great value to TCM clinical practice and talent training.Using Sabine Wilms'abridged English versions as the research subject, this paper applies the"truth-seeking-utility-attaining"continuum mode of evaluation to analyze the"truth-seeking""utility-attaining"and the balance between them at lexical and syntactic levels in terms of intra-translation,while giving description and explanation of translator's behavior in terms of extra-translation.It is found that the translator pursued source-text accuracy and took utility-attaining as her salient means,so as to achieve a balance between the truth-seeking and utility-attaining in general, and reach a high degree of rationality on behavior, which may provide some references for the translation of Chinese medicine classics.
