An Analysis of the Diagnostic and Treatment Approaches for Mastitis Based on Herbal Medicine Literature

Abstract:Objective To explore the thinking on the differentiation and treatment of mastitis in historical herbal literature,with the aim of guiding clinical medication use for differentiation and treatment.Methods Search the entire literature data of herbal medicine in the"Zhong Hua Yi Dian"database,and collect and organize herbal information for the differentiation and treatment of mastitis.Conduct statistical analysis of the frequency of inclusion of selected herbs in the works.Classify and count the elements of the pathogenesis of mastitis,and extract the content of the differentiation and treatment discussions for each type of herb.Results Out of 76 historical monographs on herbal medicine,70 herbs were selected.Among the selected herbs,the top 10 in terms of frequency of inclusion were dandelion,fritillary bulb,angelica root,trichosanthes root,momordica seed,rapeseed,leaky reed,motherwort,honeycomb,and prunella.In the classification of herbs based on the pathogenesis elements of mastitis differentiation,they can be divided into five categories:Qi stagnation,phlegm obstruction,heat congestion,blood stasis,and deficiency.Conclusion The use of herbs in the differentiation and treatment of mastitis in herbal literature is mainly focused on promoting Qi circulation,resolving phlegm,clearing heat,activating blood circulation,and tonifying deficiency.In clinical practice,they are often used in combination;Qi stagnation,heat congestion,blood stasis,phlegm obstruction,and deficiency are the characteristics of mastitis differentiation and treatment,which are consistent with the physiological and functional disorders of mastitis,characterized by Qi stagnation,cold and heat mixed,blood stasis and phlegm coagulation,and deficiency of vital energy.
