Abstract:Objective To analyze the relationship between depression and anxiety in Sjögren's syndrome(SS)and traditional Chinese medicine syndromes, clinical characteristics, and laboratory indicators, providing a reference for clinical practice. Methods This cross-sectional study selected patients diagnosed with SS at 30 major tertiary hospitals in China from May to December,2023.A total of 174 complete questionnaires were collected.Descriptive statistics were used to summarize the syndrome characteristics of the patients.Multiple regression analysis was conducted to identify factors related to depression and anxiety in these patients. Results SS patients with Yin deficiency and fluid deficiency syndrome and Qi Yin deficiency syndrome had significantly higher scores in the anxiety and depression domains of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale(HADS)compared to other syndrome types(P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that sleep disturbances, and oral ulcers were independent factors associated with anxiety in SS patients, while decreased red blood cell levels and sleep disturbances were independent factors associated with depression.Additionally, the quality of life and fatigue perception in anxious and depressed patients were significantly worse than in those without anxiety or depression(P<0.05).Conclusion The presence of sleep disturbances, oral ulcers, and reduced red blood cell levels in SS patients may indicate the coexistence of anxiety and depression, closely aligning with the manifestations of Baihe disease. This connection could provide new theoretical foundations and treatment approaches for managing psychological stress in SS patients.
