Abstract:The English translation of Inner Canon of Huangdi holds significance for the international dissemination of traditional Chinese medicine classics. However, the relevant research remains limited, especially regarding the 2002 English translation of Wu Jingnuan's Lingshu, which has not been studied specifically.Based on the theory of translator's voice, this paper takes Wu's translation as the research object, exploring the translator's voice within Wu's translation and the translation methods affected by it from two aspects of paratext and translated text. This paper finds that the translator's voice in Wu's translation is mainly embodied in the annotations, book titles and catalog titles;as well as the parentheses, the translation of meridian nouns, acupoint nouns and acupuncture nouns.Wu used many methods, such as transliteration with literal translation,word-for-word translation, amplification and free translation, accurately reproducing cultural connotation of original text and making a prominent translator's voice. This paper also proposes strategies to address certain shortcomings of Wu's translation in order to enhance the effectiveness of disseminating traditional Chinese medicine classics overseas.
