Abstract:Puerarin has become a prominent research focus in the field of traditional Chinese medicine in recent years. In this study,a bibliometric approach was employed to review literature related to puerarin published in the PubMed and Web of Science databases over the past five years.Through analysis of keywords and emerging trends, combined with interpretation of graphical representations, the following conclusions were drawn:Puerarin demonstrates significant therapeutic efficacy in preclinical disease models of major chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular ischemic diseases, metabolic disorders, and tumors. Its primary mechanisms of action are associated with anti-inflammatory,antioxidant,and anti-apoptotic effects, although whether there are interactions between these mechanisms remains uncertain.Puerarin shows promising potential in the treatment of diseases like diabetic nephropathy, neurodegenerative disorders, and disruptions in gut microbiota, warranting further exploration in related research. The synergistic effects of puerarin in combination with other medications are receiving increasing attention. However, challenges related to its low bioavailability and the lack of high-quality clinical trials are becoming more prominent.Overall, puerarin holds substantial potential for diverse applications, the underlying mechanisms and relationships require further in-depth exploration.Furthermore, relevant high-quality clinical studies also deserve attention and emphasis.
