Review on the Application of Tianma Gouteng Decoction in the Prevention and Treatment of Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases

Abstract：Tianma Gouteng decoction(TGD)is a representative prescription of calming the liver and stopping the wind,clearing away heat and promoting blood circulation,invigorating liver and kidney.Its main chemical components are flavonoids,alkaloids,and phenolic acids.The refining technology includes ultrafiltration membrane technology,macroporous resin method,absorbing-clarifying method,and alcohol precipitation method.TGD has a wide range of pharmacological activities,with the functions of lowering blood pressure,protecting nerve function,analgesia and sedation,and anti-inflammatory.Clinically,it is often used alone or in combination for the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases,especially has remarkable therapeutic effects on hypertension,headache,stroke,vertigo,traumatic brain injury,hyperlipidemia,senile tinnitus.This article summarizes the chemical composition,refining process,main pharmacological effects and clinical practice of TGD in the past 10 years,in order to provide a theoretical basis and reference for the follow-up research of TGD and the development of related medicines.
