Abstract:Cachexia is a serious complication of a variety of critically ill patients, and its clinical manifestations are very similar to the syndrome characteristics of Xu Lao in traditional Chinese medicine, due to the complex pathological mechanism, its systematic and effective treatment is an urgent problem to be overcome.Ying Qi and Wei Qi are the material and dynamic basis necessary to maintain human life activities, and the dysfunction of Ying-Wei is closely related to the pathogenesis of cachexia.Based on"Deficiency leads to Insufficient Wei Qi,and Labor leads to Ying Qi Exhaustion",the article proposes that the occurrence and development of cachexia is the result of the combined effect of deficiency of Ying Qi and Wei Qi,poor circulation and disturbance of circadian rhythm. The treatment is based on the principle of reconciling Ying Qi and Wei Qi.It is also necessary to invigorate the spleen and stomach. To diagnose the disease,it is necessary to identify the deficiency and urgency of the disease, and to flexibly add or subtract medicines. The purpose is to mobilize the body's physiological instincts, correct the imbalance of Yin and Yang, and thus delay the development of cachexia.
