Abstract:Oxidized low density lipoprotein (LDL) is an important risk factor for atherosclerosis, which can damage endothelial cells in many ways and further cause atherosclerosis. Oxidized low density lipoprotein has been considered to be part of "lipid turbidity " category in Chinese medicine, which is a major cause of vessel collateral diseases, such as obstruction of heartache, palpitation, heart water and stroke. Vessels Collateral Theory study the pathogenesis of vesselvascular system diseases in perspective of collateral-qi, which is of important theoretical meaning for the improvement of diagnosis and treatment level of vessel-vascular system diseases. Under the guidance of Vessels Collateral Theory, the pathological process of atherosclerosis induced by oxidized low density lipoprotein is a progression form collateral-qi deficiency and stagnation to stasis obstruction of the collateral.
