Effects of Dong Mei Decoction on Matrix Metalloproteinases-9 in Kidney Tissues of Early Diabetic Nephropathy

Abstract：Object:To evaluate the effects of DongMeiYin(DMY)on Matrix Metallo Proteinase-9(MMP-9)in the diabetic rats,and to investigate the mechanism of DMY in preventing and treating early diabetic nephropathy(DN).Methods:The rat early DN models were induced by injection streptozotocin (STZ).The model rats were randomly divided into the model group,DMY group,Valsartan group.The course of treatment continued 8 weeks.Observing the changes of MMP-9 in the renal cortex.Results:Compared with the normal group,the level of MMP-9 decreased in the model group,the two treated groups could increased the level of MMP-9.especially the DMY group had the best effect.Conclusion:The protective effect of DMY on renal structure may be achieved by modulating the level of MMP-9.
