Protection of Dodecyl Gallate against Lipid Peroxidation Induced by Cerebral Ischemla-reperfusion In Rats
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effects of Dodecyl Gallate on lipidperoxidation induced by cerebral ischemia-reperfusion in rats. Methods: Rats subjected to cerebral ischemia by bilateral ligation of the common caotid arteries plus vergus for 90min and then reperfusion for 45min. Results: Dodecyl Gallate decreased the contents of water and malondialdehyde(MDA), elevated the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Hx) and catalase(CAT),and suspressed the reduction of Na+-K+-ATP ase activity to certain extent in the ischemia-reperfusion brain of rats. Conclusion Dodecyl Gallate protects against cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury by enhancing the activty of anti-oxidative enzymes subsequently inhibiting lipid peroxidation and attenuating free radicals-mediated damage to the brain.
