Failure Mechanisms and Solutions for Dark Zones and Color Control Failure in LED Strips
LI Ximing
Abstract:LED strips are extensively utilized in modern lighting engineering, where their reliability directly influences illumination performance and user experience.Based on a judicial quality appraisal case of a typical LED strip, this study employs systematic field investigations, comparative testing of good/fault samples, and failure analysis to thoroughly investigate the mechanisms underlying two critical failures:dark zones and color control failure. The research categorizes dark zones into externally damaged type(throughout the strip)and quality-defective type(localized),and reveals that color control failure primarily originates from excessive electromagnetic interference(EMI)emitted by the LED strip itself, which disrupts control signals.Building on these findings,we propose systematic improvement strategies and technical specifications encompassing process optimization, component management, enhanced Electromagnetic compatibility(EMC)design, and upgraded acceptance criteria. These solutions provide essential technical guidance for the design, production, acceptance testing, and fault diagnosis of LED strips.
