Abstract:Lighting is an important factor affecting office comfort and the circadian rhythm of indoor office workers,so a simple and effective evaluation of lighting quality is crucial.Traditional quantification methods rely on many devices, such as luminance meters, illuminance meters, and spectral measurement instruments. This article proposes a comprehensive method that quantifies lighting quality using only high dynamic range images.Especially for the calculation of non visual effects that are highly dependent on spectral data, this article can generate a relative spectrum by reading the RGB information of pixels from high dynamic range images and combining it with pre calculated spectral base data. The generated relative spectrum can be calibrated to an absolute spectrum by a luminance meter to calculate all lighting indicators. The spectral data calculated by this method and the spectral data measured by the CL-500A lux meter were used to calculate two non visual effect indicators, equivalent melanocyte lux(EML)and circadian rhythm stimulation(CS).Through experimental verification in multiple scenarios, the results showed that the error between the calculated results of this method and the actual measured spectral calculations did not exceed 10%.The method based on high dynamic range images has the characteristics of low cost and easy operation compared to traditional methods, and has good prospects in non visual research of lighting environments in the future.
