Abstract:UV LED and TiO2 photocatalyst is a new solution to deal with smell and volatile organic compounds(VOCs).There are some difficult problems in the UV LED photocatalytic solution on the market, such as:Firstly, the removal efficiency of VOCs is not good enough.Secondly,UV LED light source has a lot of reliability problems, for example, leakage current, even dead light, caused by ESD(Electro-Static Discharge),and the radiation flux degrades fast. This paper conducted optical simulation and structure design of UV LED and UV LED module, and a novel UV LED and its photocatalytic module was developed and several patents were authorized. This novel UV LED passed some reliability tests, and its performance is much better than the mainstream products on the market. It has high anti-ESD level(>±8000 V),good air tightness, and its lifetime is longer than 30,000 hours. This novel UV LED photocatalytic module was conducted removal efficiency tests of smell and VOCs and disinfection efficiency tests of staphylococcus albus and influenza A virus H3N2.The test results show as follows:Firstly, the removal efficiency of both ammonia and hydrogen sulfide are higher than 90%.Secondly,the removal efficiency of both benzene and methyl-benzene are higher than 86%,and the removal efficiency of formaldehyde is 92.5%.Finally,the disinfection efficiency of staphylococcus albus 8032 is 99.90%and influenza A virus H3N2 is higher than 99.98%.
