Study on Preparation of Polycrystal Alumina Transparent Ceramic
Abstract:This article maialy explores the effect of varying technical parameters such as milling time, doping method, sintering temperature on PCA's microstructure and CMH's performance during wet forming process. Experiments show: Long time (over 200hrs) milling causes destruction of powder's sphericity, leading to the fact that grain develops into stripy feature; Doping with Mg(NO3)2 is easier to fully mix than with MgO; With uneven distribution, the abnormal grain growth occurs; Sintering temperature is the decisive factor of grain growth, proved by the fact that the grain size increases with increasing temperature. Grain boundary decreases with the increase of the grain size in unit volume, so that the refraction and scattering at the grain boundary weakens and the transmittance of the PCA enhances. On the other hand with better optical performance of PCA the temperature of arc tubes reduces and properties especially the luminous efficacy significantly improves.
