A Method of Measuring Cathode Characteristics of Gas Discharge Lamps
Abstract：Gas discharge lamp is one of dynamic lighting devices, allowing a wide range of operation current values. Nevertheless, cathode will be in over-heating state if the operation current is too high, and in under-heating state if the operation current is too low. Either of the states will induce great ion bombardment to cathode, lead to aggravate cathode sputtering and evaporating, and result in life shortening. In view of the disadvantages of existing methods, the paper provides a convenient method of measuring the cathode characteristics of gas discharge lamps, which can better judge whether the cathode current is in a reasonable range.
