Abstract:This report presented a case of surgical incision infection caused by Trichophyton rubrum. The patient,a 37-year-old male, developed delayed wound healing one month after surgery for a right calcaneal fracture. The wound secretion culture was positive for T.rubrum, which was further confirmed by ITS sequencing. The patient had a history of tinea pedis, and fungal culture of the skin flakes was consistent with the wound secretion, both showing T.rubrum.The treatment included oral fluconazole, topical terbinafine spray, and negative pressure wound therapy. The wound healed well at one-year follow-up,with no recurrence.
