Virulence Mechanisms and Host Adaptation Ability of Cryptococcus neoformans
Abstract:Cryptococcus is a pathogenic fungus in humans, with complex and well-developed virulence mechanisms and host adaptation abilities. Major virulence factors of Cryptococcus neoformans include the capsule, melanin, and the ability to grow at human body temperature. However, Cryptococcus neoformans can also use other pathways, such as signal transduction, immune evasion, biofilm formation, and adaptation to host CO2, to assist in infection. This article summarizes current findings on the virulence mechanisms and host adaptation abilities of Cryptococcus neoformans, and discusses potential future research directions, aiming to promote further study of its pathogenic mechanisms.
