Disseminated cryptococcosis in a hemodialysis patient with seizures as the main manifestation:a case report

Abstract:A 47-year-old male patient was admitted to the hospital due to renal failure caused by polycystic kidney disease.After admission for the fifth hemodialysis,he began to have headache,dizziness,low-grade fever,and repeated seizures.Pulmonary CT showed signs of infection.Cryptococcal antigen was positive in serum and cerebrospinal fluid,and Cryptococ-cus neoformans was detected in blood culture and cerebrospinal fluid mNGS.The patient was diagnosed with disseminated cryptococcosis and cryptococcal meningitis.After antifungal treatment with fluconazole and voriconazole,the seizures were completely relieved,the body temperature returned to normal,and the pulmonary infection was significantly improved.
