Research Progress on the Prevention and Control of Orthopedic Fungal Infections
Abstract:The overall incidence of orthopedic fungal infections continues to increase, with significant differences among different populations, regions, and medical institutions. It is commonly seen in the hip and knee joints. The progress in the prevention and control of orthopedic fungal infections includes research on pathogenesis, the application of new detection technologies (high-resolution CT, MRS, and molecular imaging), and new laboratory diagnostic techniques (rapid fungal culture systems, next-generation sequencing technology, microfluidic chip technology). New antifungal drugs, new dosage forms, and targeted drug delivery systems, as well as new surgical treatment technologies (minimally invasive debridement, individualized implant processing, bone defect repair surgery, etc.), have also been applied. However, the pathogenesis is still not fully understood, diagnostic techniques remain imperfect, drug resistance is severe, and prevention is difficult, making orthopedic fungal infections a major challenge for medical staff. Strengthening scientific research cooperation, establishing multidisciplinary collaboration models, and improving the level of diagnosis and treatment at the grassroots level are needed.
