Abstract:Objective To explore the epidemiological characteristics of scedosporiosis from China. Methods The species diversity, infected organ, diagnosis, treatment, and outcome of the reported cases of scedosporiosis from China were retro-spectively reviewed in the past 40 years. Results A total of 90 reported cases of scedosporiosis have been included,in which S.apiospermum/S.boydii and lung(41.1%)were the most common Scedosporium spp.and affected organs,respective-ly.Several infection pathways, such as injury(33.3%),immunosuppression(23.3%),and near-drowning(22.2%)are the most common infection pathways.Up to now,it is still the main diagnostic method to have positive cultures(96.7%),and molecular identification is also increased(86.2%),especially in the past five years.Voriconazole was the leading anti-fungal therapy, and its cure/improvement rate is 76.3%,which was consistent with global guidelines. Conclusions The in-cidence of scedosporiosis has increased steadily in China.Due to the low proportion of molecular techniques used in mycology identification, bias might be appeared in the exploration of incidence of scedosporiosis in China.Notably, voriconazole is rec-ommended as the first-line treatment for Scedosporium infection worldwide. However,it is relatively limited in its use(65.6%)in China.
