Analysis of pathogenic fungi in 129 cases of fungal keratitis

Abstract:Objective To summarize the epidemiological characteristics of fungal keratitis(FK)outpatients in Wuxi Second Hospital Ophthalmology in recent years.Methods The medical records of 129 patients with fungal keratitis who were diag-nosed in the ophthalmology department of Wuxi Second People's Hospital from January 2019 to December 2023 were retro-spectively analyzed,and their epidemiology and clinical diagnosis and treatment were analyzed and summarized.Results There were 73 males(56.6%)and 56 females(43.4%),with a male to female ratio of 1.3:1.The average age was 62.5±9.6 years old(39-90 years old),with the largest number of 60-69 years old.The highest incidence of the disease was in the fourth quarter(October-December).81 cases(62.8%)had a clear history of trauma,of which 43 cases(53.1%)had a clear history of plant trauma.Among the 129 corneal samples,83 were positive(64.7%),and Fusarium was the first path-ogenic fungi(42 cases,50.6%),followed by Alternaria(28 cases,33.7%),Aspergillus(9 cases,10.9%),Candida(1 case,1.2%),and some rare fungi(3 cases,3.6%).Conclusion The number of patients with fungal keratitis in the oph-thalmology department of Wuxi Second Hospital increased year by year in recent 5 years.Most common in autumn and win-ter(October-December).Have a clear history of trauma.The main pathogenic fungi were Fusarium,Streptospora and As-pergillus,and Fusarium was the most common fungi.
