Dermatophyte infections in relatives:four cases

Abstract:A 6-year-old girl(case 1)and a 4-year-old girl(case 2)were sisters.They presented with circular hair loss areas at the top of the head(case 1)and right temporal region(case 2)for more than a month respectively,with no conscious symptoms.Case 3,a boy 4 years old,had multiple white thick scale hair loss areas on the top of his head.His mother(case 4)had a circular,well-defined erythema on the right chest,without any conscious symptoms.All the patients had a history of contact with cats,and were diagnosed with tinea capitis and tinea corporis(caused by Microsporium canis)through fungal microscopy,fungal culture,and skin microscopy.After taking oral itraconazole,using external terbinafine and flutramazole ointment,all patients were cured.
