A case report of meningitis caused by Scedosporium apiospermum

Abstract：A case of infective Scedosporium apiospermum meningitis caused by head trauma was reported.Fungal culture and morphological observation were carried out in the positive culture medium of cerebrospinal fluid.The strain was identi-fied by the matter-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometery.The internal transcribed spacer was sequenced and homologous analysis was performed.The strain was identified to be Scedosporium apiospermum.The results of E-test in vitro showed that the strain was sensitive to voriconazole.After 3 days of treatment with voriconazole,the pa-tient's condition improved,but the treatment was abandoned due to brain death after sudden subarachnoid and brainstem hemorrhage.
