Study on the Impact of Price Regulation in Medical Consumables on the Economic Operation of Public Hospitals
Abstract:Objective To analyze the impact of price regulation in medical consumables on the economic operation of the public hospitals in Shanghai.Methods Relevant data of 17 public hospitals owned by one district in Shanghai were collected from annual reports of these hospitals and through hospital questionnaire surveys.Results In 2016,the mark-up rate of medical consumables in the public hospitals owned by one district in Shanghai decrease from 14.60% in 2014 to 6.26% in 2016.It is estimated that all of the price regulations in medical consumables in Shanghai will re duce 158 million Chinese yuan of income overall for these hospitals from 2015 to 2017.Conclusion The hospital income loss because of the price regulation in medical consumables should be compensated by government subsidies to some extents if the compensation for medical services is not sufficient.
