Influence of Market Competition on Hospital Technical Efficiencies: Based on Empirical Evidence from Henan and Jiangsu Provinces
Abstract：Objective To explore the association between Chinese hosPital market competition and technical efficiencies.Methods Based on administrative data of 1 449 comprehensive hospitals in Henan and Jiangsu in 2012,bootstrapped Data Envelopment Analysis and truncated regression were used.Results Ceteris paribus,hospital technical efficiency decreased by 0.068 5 with an increase of 1 000 in Herfindahl-Hirschman Index.Conclusion In the Chinese healthcare context,market competition is positively associated with hospital technical efficiency.
