Abstract:Bile acids,as metabolic derivatives of cholesterol, have been known to facilitate the absorption of lipids as emulsifiers.More and more evidence shows that bile acids are involved in immune regulation, energy metabolism, aging, and tumorigenesis as small molecule signaling substances. There are complex feedback and interactions between bile acids and gut microbiota, both of which take part in the formation of local intestinal immune microenvironment. This article reviews the progress of bile acid metabolism and its modification effect on gut microbiota, and their role in the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer. Also,it analyzes and prospects the potential combined strategies of bile acid and gut microbiota as immune checkpoint inhibitors in colorectal cancer.
