MRI analysis in the diagnosis of breast diseases presented as non-mass like enhancement (NMLE)

Abstract：Objective To explore the MRI image manifestations of breast diseases presented as non-mass like enhancement(NMLE).Methods 54 cases presented as NMLE lesions which confirmed by pathological examination were analyzed retrospectively.All the pathologic results and imaging features were assessed accord-ingly.Results Among the 54 cases of NMLE,19 cases were malignant tumors and 35 cases were benign mas-ses.The morphological features and MRI signal characteristics of these lesions are not in accordance with those in non-enhanced MRI scan.After injecting the contrast agent,some lesions showed different tissue enhancement modes.In malignant group,9 /19 cases showed segmental and regional inhomogeneous enhancement which ac-counting for 47.3%;while in benign group,assess with focal net-like or point clusters homogeneous enhance-ment accounted for 28.6%(10 /35).The sensitivity and specificity of MR diagnostic is 90.7% and 61.4% re-spectively.Conclusions MRI examination is of great value in NMLE diagnosis in female breast diseases,com-bination of morphological characteristics and DWI are helpful in differential diagnosis.
