Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of Maspin and MMP-2 in breast infiltrative ductal carcinoma. Methods The expression of Maspin and MMP-2 were detected by immuno-histochemical staining(streptavidine-peroxidase method)in 60 cases of breast infiltrative ductal carcinoma and 20 cases of normal breast tissues. Results The expression rate of Maspin in invasive ductal carcinoma of breast was significantly lower than that in normal breast tissues(45. 0% vs. 95. 0% ,P ﹤ 0. 05). The expression rate of MMP-2 in invasive ductal carcinoma of breast was significantly higher than that in normal breast tissues(75. 0%vs. 15. 0% ,P ﹤ 0. 05). Maspin and MMP-2 expression were associated with lymph node metastasis( P ﹤0. 05). MMP-2 expression was associated with clinical stages(P ﹤ 0. 05). The expressions of Maspin and MMP-2 were not closely related in breast infiltrative ductal carcinoma(r = - 0. 11,P ﹤ 0. 05). Conclusions Maspin protein can inhibit the metastasis in breast infiltrative ductal carcinoma;while MMP-2 may stimulate the infiltra-tion and metastasis in breast infiltrative ductal carcinoma. Joint detection of Maspin and MMP-2 may become a new assistant index for detecting the infiltration and metastasis of breast infiltrative ductal carcinoma.
