Abstract:The incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)is on a continuous upward trend. The pathological mechanisms of T2DM are relatively complex, involving insulin resistance, disorders of glucose and lipid metabolism and intestinal flora imbalance.Marine-derived chitooligosaccharides(COS)and its derivatives have significant multiple biological activities such as anti-inflammation,antioxidation,improving glucose and lipid metabolism, and regulating gut microbiota. The multi-target synergistic mechanisms of COS and its derivatives in anti-diabetes provide theoretical support for the construction of targeted nutritional intervention programs and highlight the clinical translational value in the comprehensive treatment of diabetes. In this paper, the research progress in mechanisms of COS regulating T2DM through multiple targets is reviewed.
