Analysis on the deaths of children under 5 years old with congenital heart disease in Guangxi from 2017 to 2022

Abstract：Objective To analyze the deaths of children under 5 years old with congenital heart disease in Guangxi from 2017 to 2022.Methods The data from the death report cards of 1 271 cases of children under 5 years old who died of congenital heart disease in 111 counties(cities and districts)of Guangxi from January 2017 to December 2022 were downloaded from Guangxi Women and Children Health Service Information Management System and were analyzed.Results From 2017 to 2022,the annual mortality of congenital heart disease in children under 5 years old in Guangxi decreased from 40.37/100 000 to 24.60/100 000,and the mortality of children in urban and rural areas was 21.58/100 000 and 44.78/100 000,respectively.The majority of the deaths of children under 5 years old with congenital heart disease were in hospitals(47.92％),and most of them received hospital treatment before death(73.96％),and provincial(city)hospitals(60.50％)were the most important diagnosis and treatment institutions.Conclusion The annual mortality of children under 5 years old with congenital heart disease in Guangxi showed a downward trend from 2017 to 2022,and the mortality of rural children was higher than that of urban children.It is necessary to continuously improve the quality of primary pediatric medical services and accelerate the balanced distribution of high-quality medical resources.
