Research progress on pharmacological effects and mechanisms of nordihydroguaiaretic acid

Abstract：Nordihydroguaiaretic acid(NDGA)is a chemical compound extracted from the evergreen shrub fork Larrea divaricata.NDGA is used in the food processing industry due to the discovery of antioxidant properties in it.NDGA has also been proved to have pharmacological effects such as immune regulation,antibacterial action,antivirus activity,anti-tumor activity,anti-angiogenesis,anti-reproduction and anti-fibrosis,suggesting that NDGA has important potential value in the treatment of diseases.However,the role and mechanism of NDGA in the treatment of diseases have not been systematically summarized at present.In this paper,the research progress on pharmacological effects and mechanisms of NDGA is reviewed.
